Home Based Business – is it for you?
At a recent Business Networking meeting which I attended around 70% of the attendees have home based businesses. Most of those are Direct selling businesses.
Some are selling their wares on the internet with websites, others are making incomes as Independent Distributors, Agents or Consultants for companies who use the Direct Selling or Network Marketing model of business.
More and more companies are using the Direct selling model which differs greatly from the old traditional way of doing business, which involves vast costs even if your product is ready to go to market, including Distribution, Premises, Rent and Business rates, Staffing costs, Marketing, PR and Advertising etc. etc.
By using Independent Distributors, Agents or Consultants a Direct selling company makes more profit to pay them through their payment or compensation plan, they also have more left for reinvestment income to develop more products.
To be successful a company has to get its products Marketed to the customer in one way or another. In direct selling the Agents, Consultants or Independent Distributors are the Marketing Team of the company.
By working hard to build your home based business with a Direct selling company you can create an unlimited income.
You are your own boss; you decide when to start and finish work every day, to have a day off, when to take holidays and how long you take.
Obviously you won’t get paid much if you don’t put the effort in, but by doing your ‘job’ well and then recruiting others to join you and training them well, you earn on their efforts too. Build a big team and your income will get ‘big’ too.
You yourself can only work a limited amount of hours every week, most people work for around 35. But what if you had 10 or more people in your team also working 35 hours, and the company pay you commission on all their efforts too.
J. Paul Getty once said, “I'd rather make 1% on 100 men's efforts – than 100% on my own efforts”
This is the way that a Direct selling company’s compensation plan pays out. Commission cheque amounts relate directly to the level of effort and volume of products sold in your team.
Don’t be put off by ‘Network Marketing’ opportunities because of the association with Pyramid selling. This has been illegal for many, many years. The traditional business model is more like a Pyramid scheme, if you think about it. At the ‘top’ of the business are the owner, directors & shareholders and at the bottom are the workers who produce the goods or provide the service often for a low wage.
However Network Marketing or Direct Selling, which is in fact policed more than any other business model, offers equal opportunity for everyone.
People with little or no business knowledge can build a very successful business, they can earn as they learn, while they are gaining experience with unlimited support from their upline team.Some Home based business opportunities are advertised as ‘get rich quick’ schemes, I would avoid any that make these claims.
It is very possible to be very successful with a Direct Selling business. Just find the one that suits you, the most important thing is to have products which you believe in, and which you will use yourself. This will give you the confidence to present the product and the business opportunity to others.
This income is can build to a substantial pension plan, with willable residual income, residual income means that you get it for life whether you continue to work in retirement or not.
